Description: Rossheim and colleagues (in press) detail in a Letter to the Editor their concerns regarding our recent publication “The Subjective Physiological, Psychological, and Behavioral Risk-Taking Consequences of Alcohol and Energy Drink Co-Ingestion” (Peacock et al., 2012). Specifically, the authors outline several issues with the study design and analyses, particularly the failure to account for the relative frequency of alcohol versus alcohol mixed with energy drink (AmED) drinking sessions when determining the odds of risk behavior according to session type. While we acknowledge the validity of many of the points raised by Rossheim and colleagues, reanalysis of the data demonstrates that it is not likely that these issues have substantially affected the findings.
